The mission of Terre des Hommes is to stop child exploitation worldwide, by protecting children and giving them a voice. The website plays an important role in this.
After adjusting the strategy and visual identity in 2023, it was time for a revision of terredeshommes.nl. The outdated and error-prone back-end system was also due for a major upgrade.
two websites, one transformation
Terre des Hommes had a Dutch and an English website that were identical in content, but served different target groups. us. suggested developing not one but two new websites, so that the content of each site could be tailored exactly to its audience: a Dutch-language site focused on lead generation and fundraising from Dutch consumers, and an English version aimed at international audiences.
A major challenge was the wish to renew the back-end in parallel with the redevelopment of the website, so that fundraisers can more easily run relevant retention campaigns. The project thus became a complete transformation.

one foundation under campaigns and fundraising
The foundation of the new system is the integration of Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud and Findock with the website. Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud manages donor relationships, Findock handles financial management and reporting. With Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Terre des Hommes also communicates with donors and leads in a personalised and targeted way.
Part of the fundraising platform of us. are the donation forms (pldgr): flexible, fully customisable donation and campaign forms that link seamlessly with Salesforce, Findock and Marketing Cloud. This gives fundraisers all the tools to run online campaigns independently.
The websites run on a scalable hosting architecture on the Google Cloud Platform, in European data centres in line with GDPR and ISO requirements. us. also guided the move to WordPress Gutenberg as cms and, together with SDIM, ensured an optimal site structure and donor journeys – the basis for data-driven improvement with CRO and A/B testing.

The result of this transformation is a future-proof fundraising platform that Terre des Hommes can use completely independently. With us. as a committed partner, the organisation is assured of continuous optimisation.
Both websites show a clear focus; the new strategy and visual identity come into their own. The Dutch site is an effective fundraising instrument, allowing Terre des Hommes to respond quickly to current events with campaigns and content. The English site positions the organisation as a thought leader for an international audience.
