The Zuid-Hollands Landschap is an organization of nature conservationists. Together with donors and volunteers, ZHL ensures that nature is always within reach for all residents of South Holland. The website plays an important role in informing and activating the various target groups. To increase online flexibility and prevent recurring high costs for CMS updates, the foundation asked Us Media to develop a new (mobile first) online platform.

The main purpose of the new website is to create and facilitate engagement. We wanted to make it as easy as possible to become a one-time or structural donor, download routes, participate in campaigns, excursions and activities or become a volunteer. How? By telling the story of ZHL clearly and attractively, leading the visitor to his/her donation frictionlessly and increasing the conversion of leads to donors with a strong CRM strategy.
synergy and efficiency: NGO suite
The website for the Zuid-Hollands Landschap is the first in a series of landschap websites’ that Us Media is developing in ‘21/‘22. Similar projects followed, including a new online platform for Gelders landschap & kastelen and Utrecht landschap. The structure and functionalities initially developed for ZHL, and the choice of our NGO suite as a basis, offered the nature organizations synergy and efficiency, while retaining their own identity and sufficient options for customization. For example, the landschap websites are each linked to their own (and different) CRM systems.
Actively helping NGOs and other charitable organizations achieve their online goals: we are very happy to do that. And as an online technology partner of parties such as Amnesty, SOS Children’s Villages, Lilianefonds and Wilde Ganzen, we have also gained a lot of experience with this. The various landscape foundations also fit perfectly into this list of clients with a real purpose.
The platform runs entirely in the cloud in Amazon Web Services (AWS). By smart caching and optimal image delivery, the website has become exceptionally fast — without compromising on quality.
Thanks to imgix’s real-time image processing, all images are always optimally displayed for all devices, in terms of compression and size. In addition, imgix automatically provides the correct crops with the help of smart facial recognition algorithms/
The basis for the CMS is WordPress. On top of that: customization to make wordpress suitable to run serverless in the AWS cloud. Images are served from the imgix CDN.
